The 2017 Supplement contains all of the new Arizona Rules of Evidence which became effective January 1, 2012. It includes the Prefatory Comment to 2012 Amendments, which contains a listing of which rules were reworded, and after each rule is the Comment to 2012 Amendment, which is a more detailed description of how and why the rule was reworded.
This Supplement includes the latest 2015 and 2016 cases in which the courts begin their application of the new Rules, and most importantly, it contains the 2015 and 2016 cases discussing the application of the new Rule 702 on expert testimony, including the Bernstein (Herman) case, which has a step-by-step analysis of the various provisions of Rule 702.
These initial decisions further assist in distinguishing which of the new Rules are substantive and which are stylistic.
Finally, the 2017 Supplement contains annotations for all the Arizona evidence cases for the last 18 years.
